The first half of the second of five sessions on the prophets in the Old Testament at Bible & Culture 2010. This session introduces five key questions to ask when studying the prophets, and then gives an overview of the history of Israel and Judah from the beginning of the monarchy in 1050 BC, through the division of the kingdom in 931 and up until the fall of Samaria and the northern kingdom of Israel in 722 BC.
Note: Because of the timeline transitions and animations, I’ve embedded this as a video (no sound I’m afraid!) rather than a slideshare animation. See the posts with my timeline diagrams for something to print. (images by permission of British Museum)
